Picture Imperfect, my middle grade children’s novel, has been selected as Book of the Year in its category by the Christian Small Publisher Association. I am excited and humbled–and have to keep checking to make sure it’s true. My sweet cat, Fiona, joins in my excitement, or at least I’m sure she will once she wakes up from her afternoon nap. Although I have to admit, she gets more excited about that little red dot that comes from the laser pointer…
To celebrate this award, my publisher has lowered the price on the e-book to $0.99 from now until May 1st. The book is also available in paperback and audio formats. Clicking on the picture of the book cover to the left will take you to Amazon, where all copies are available. A big thanks to all of my friends who helped make this book a winner!
Dear Susan,
I just discovered your story on the WhiteSpark web-site. I was delighted to find it as I have been looking for stories for middle grade readers with an overt Christian message, and I cannot find many.
I don’t know if you know the stories by English writer Patricia St. John. I read these stories as a child, and they helped me to understand that the faith I had grown up with was relevant and practical. God has put it on my heart to write in the same genre for today’s children, but looking for comp. fiction has been a challenge. Thank you for contributing to this under-represented readership.
I loved your characters–JJ, Kat, Lissa, Gram–and all the unexpected twists of the story. I loved the way JJ didn’t win the Grand Prize but did win in her category for that special picture of her’s and Gram’s hands.
I hope you have another story in the works.
